A FIRST VISIT
Welcome to First Church where we have a heart for God and a heart for the city!
We look forward to welcoming you to our church. We worship Sundays at 9:45am in our sanctuary on the corner of Newnan Street and Duval Street.
There is church parking at the front and the back of the church. You are welcome to use both the front and the rear entrance of the sanctuary. Both are handicap accessible!
Our Ushers will welcome you and direct you to a seat. They will also provide you with a program that includes the Order of Worship, announcements, and a calendar for upcoming events at First Church. Should you need a hearing aid or a large print Bible to follow the service, please let them know!
You can sit where ever you want. Only on a few special occasions will there be reserved seating but we will mark it as such.
Our beautiful worship services are traditional celebrating God's majesty with hymns led by our talented 20+ person Sanctuary Choir and accompanied by our organist, Rev. Mary Holladay. The songs can be easily found in Hymnals located in every pew.
On the first Sunday of the month, everyone present is welcome to share in Communion. You do not need to be Methodist or a regular church-goer to participate, as long as you love the Lord and repent of your sins.
When we take offerings for God, the ushers pass a plate down each row for everyone to put an offering in the plate. Some people put envelopes in the plate with their offering, others drop in dollars or checks. You do not need to put anything in the plate if you do not feel led. On your first visit, we ask that you do not give - simply be our guest!
There is no dress code for church. Wear what you feel comfortable in to worship services and other church functions. Most of our older church family members prefer a more formal dress, but with skirts, pants, and a nice shirt you will blend in just fine.
Everyone is welcome! The congregation at First Church is as diverse as the neighborhoods surrounding it.
Sunday School gives everyone a chance to meet and learn more about God's Word after the Sunday worship service. Join us for "Connections" following the worship service!
Visit the First Kids and Team One Youth Group pages for information if you are interested in all the children's happenings.
Wednesday is our mid-week busy day packed with meetings, fellowship, a shared dinner, a study or other program, and much more! Before Thanksgiving, our Wednesday activities are usually moved to Tuesdays, and before Easter, we gather on Maundy Thursday.
Our Celebrate Recovery ministry is led by Nancy O'Rourke. Celebrate Recovery meets every Saturday for a shared dinner, contemporary worship and praise, and small group studies at 6:00pm in the Fellowship Hall.
