A FIRST VISIT
Welcome to First Church where we have a heart for God and a heart for the city!
We look forward to welcoming you to our church. We worship Sundays at 11:00am in our sanctuary on the corner of Newnan Street and Duval Street.
There is church parking at the front and the back of the church. You are welcome to use both the front and the rear entrance of the sanctuary. Both are handicap accessible!
Only on a few special occasions will there be reserved seating but we will mark it as such.
Our beautiful worship services are traditional celebrating God's majesty with hymns led by our talented Sanctuary Choir and accompanied by our organist. The songs can be easily found in Hymnals located in every pew
On the first Sunday of the month, everyone is welcome to share in Communion. You do not need to be Methodist or a regular church-goer to participate, as long as you love the Lord and repent of your sins. You will receive a communion wafer and grape juice in safe, individually wrapped servings.
When we take offerings for God, the ushers will guide you to bring your offerings to a plate at the altar. Some people put envelopes in the plate with their offering, others drop in dollars or checks. You do not need to put anything on the plate if you do not feel led. On your first visit, we ask that you do not give - simply be our guest!
There is no dress code for church. Wear what you feel comfortable wearing to worship services and other church functions. Most of our older church family members prefer a more formal dress, but with skirts, pants, and a nice shirt you will blend in just fine.
Everyone is welcome! The congregation at First Church is as diverse as the neighborhoods surrounding it.

First Church is located in downtown Jacksonville, FL, at the corner of Newnan Street and Duval Street.
From the South: Find your best way to I-95 North. Take the Prudential Drive exit toward Main Street. Cross the river using the Main Street Bridge and merge onto US-1/Ocean Street. After four blocks, turn right onto Church Street. Cross Newnan St.The FUMC parking lot is immediately to the right.
From the North: Find your best way to I-95 South. Take the 353B exit on the left for Union St toward Downtown/Sports Complex and turn left. Continue on Union St through Downtown Jacksonville. Turn right onto Newnan Street. Make a left at Church Street. The FUMC parking lot is immediately on your right side.
