Giving

God has tasked us with Christian stewardship, the faithful management of all that God gives so that He can use our gifts to transform us spiritually, and to extend His transforming love to others through us and the ministries at First Church. The Bible teaches us that people who take seriously the stewardship of all that God gives us have these characteristics:
They give through the church (Malachi 3:10), liberally (Luke 6:38), sacrifically (2 Corinthians 8:1-4), cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7), and regularly (1 Corinthians 16:2).

We at First UMC Jacksonville focus on the biblical philosophy of the need of the giver to give for his or her own spiritual development rather than the need of the church to receive. Our financial commitment to giving is an act of Worship. We pray and listen to God's voice in our hearts and what He is calling us to give.
